1. Set small goals: Most people are unable to achieve their weight loss goals because they always think big. There is nothing wrong with thinking big, but don’t make your goals so big as though they become overwhelming and intimidating to you! Don’t stretch your weight loss goals so far that you feel tempted to quit your weight loss program altogether! Start slow and you will see how easy it is to shed those obstinate pounds!

You are aware that losing weight requires a huge lifestyle change. But, this big a change s not something you can make overnight, no matter how motivated you might be. For instance, if you tried, right now, to commit to never eating junk food again, do you think you would succeed? Probably not. In fact, trying so hard to avoid it will most likely make you more inclined then ever to eat it, which is the opposite of what you want!

Rather then try to eliminate all the foods that are bad for you, all at once, you should try cutting them out one at a time. For instance, on the first day you might try replacing butter with peanut butter, a healthier alternative. Next week, maybe try switching your white bread for wholemeal. Just keep changing one food at a time, and getting used to that before you move on to the next one. Before you know it, all your foods will be healthy!

This is too much change for you to accomplish all at once, however that doesn’t mean you won’t get there – just keep gradually advancing, making small changes one by one, and before you know it all the food you eat will be healthy – and without the slightest temptation or stress! Isn’t that easy?

2. You gained weight in the first place, because you were following bad habits. So you need to replace those bad habits with good ones, in order to lose weight. I know how difficult breaking a habit can be, but you need to do it, so the trick is to change your habits slowly – gradually shifting into a more healthy lifestyle.

I you are anything like most people, you probably have a tendency to snack in the afternoon. Well, instead of trying to break this habit and stop completely, why not try to just change what you snack on? All you need to do is to make sure that any snacks you eat are all healthy – fruits and vegetables, or something like low fat yogurt.

3. Remove Temptation: It’s important that you avoid being tempted, because even if you only occasionally give in to temptation, it is still going to hurt your ability to lose weight. The best thing to do, is to find something that will distract you from thoughts of food. Maybe go out dancing or driving, do some sit ups, drink a glass of water… anything that will focus your mind somewhere else. As long as you keep yourself distracted, you won’t be tempted. And as long as you aren’t tempted, you’ll eat less. It’s really that simple!
