Breast Augmentation Procedures and Costs

The plastic surgery procedure known as breast augmentation can be further categorized into three groups based on the difference in desired results and techniques. It is not uncommon for a person to be unhappy about their body and many women have issues with their breast. Some want reductions because large breast can cause back pains while others want larger breasts. Others feel that the shape of their breast are not ideal and want them reshaped. The three procedures available can enlarge, reduce, or re-sculpt the breast.

The costs of each procedure vary widely and depend on the severity of the change as well as many other factors that typically influence the price of plastic surgery procedures. Breast implants will cost approximately $5,500 to $7,000 on average while the cost for breast reduction or reconstruction will average anywhere from $5,000 to $6,000. A breast lift is often performed as a complement to breast implants and will costs approximately $3,000 to $4,500 per treatment.

Breast implant patients usually have a choice in the material of the implants and the option of either silicone or saline. There is little difference in choosing one material over the other but in terms of prices surgeons usually charge a slightly higher fee of several hundred dollars for silicone.

Breast mastectomy is a more accurate term for the procedure that reshapes the breast, also known as breast reconstruction, and is often performed on patients who had or currently have breast cancer. In contrast, mammoplasty is the elective surgery to reduce the breast size and often performed on patients who experience back pain. Both breast reduction costs are priced nearly the same because it uses the same technique and process of removing tissue.

A breast lift, technically known as a mastopexy and is an option for women who do not want to change the size of their breast but simply the shape. As its name suggests it gives the patient perkier breasts which consequently can make them appear larger or fuller. It is usually best for women with small breast that sag, commonly as a result of bearing children.

Those who do not get addicted to plastic surgery and do not abuse their power of choice can really reap some nice benefits from controlled cosmetic surgery prices. For safety it is important that the patient knows what they are getting into and have realistic goals and expectations. Any surgery serious and all procedures, elective or medical should be evaluated carefully before proceeding.
