Care In Your Own Home
Do you see yourself spending long lazy days by the porch? With your dog dozing by your feet, just breathing the air doing nothing? No more harassing phone calls from work, and deadlines that need to be met? Having the time to do what we want is one of the benefits of retirement. But what if we suddenly have to follow meal schedules and lights out curfew? Is this what we get after a long years in our career?
That\’s the reason why more and more retirees opt to employ in home elder care services. Most of us want to be surrounded by people and things familiar to us. At a time when we\’re making adjustments towards a new phase in our lives, it can be just too stressful to suddenly uproot ourselves and settle on a new place with people and things unfamiliar to us.
With senior home care, we remain independent. We are free to do as we like without having to follow the rigid regulations of a nursing home facility. With the advent of modern technology, it has become easier for us to remain at home and still receive the specialized medical treatments we need.
In home elder care has expanded a lot over the years. Aside from nurses, it now includes physicians, dieticians, social workers and even home makers and companions. It depends on how independent you still are and what medical or social assistance you need.
Financing has also become more flexible. Most of the time, senior home care services are covered by Medicare and/or Medicaid. Some insurance policies also cover in home care services. State and local governments also help by giving special funds to home health agencies. Then there are the private organizations and charitable institutions we can tap. Some agencies even have payment programs available to help us if we\’re getting the money from our own pockets.
In home elder care has enabled us to live independently and still receive senior home care. It also eases the strain when we choose to live with our children and their family.
Caring for you, their own family and themselves can put a big toll not just on your children but also on your relationship with them. At any time you could slip on the bathroom floor, forget to turn off the TV, or lose your eyeglasses. You can\’t expect your children to always be there to look after you. Let\’s be honest – we\’re growing old. Our memory and coordination isn\’t the same as years ago. And our children worry about us because of this.
Let\’s ease this pressure on our family by having senior home care – and spend long days in the comfort of our home surrounded by our family. It will help you and your family out in the future.
