Why Your Last Diet Didn’t Work?

In today’s U.S. population, there are more than 200 million people suffering from some form of obesity and overweight. Let’s face it, that is allot of people, there must be a solution out there to help these people. Let’s take a closer look at the statistics of the overweight problem: * 64 percent of people are overweight in the US * 48 percent of people in Europe are overweight * 27% of Americans are classified as obese. * Obesity is responsible for 325,000 deaths every year * 300 million people worldwide are obese * 750,000 million people worldwide are overweight. The statistics above are only an indication to why most diets don’t work and why some can even be unsafe. A good diet plan is crucial in order to make a difference.

Here are some reasons why diets do not work, and why they prevent you from losing weight.

1. Impossible to follow for the long term. Eating grapefruits for every meal for the rest of your life or cabbage soup a year long, it doesn’t make sense does it? Of course they will help you losing weight but not for the long term because you simply won’t be able to follow through. A diet should be a habit instead of a trend.

2. Too Complex to follow. Many diet plans are so complex, it would take a rocket scientist to figure them out. You have to count your calories, count your carbs, know which is a good carb and which are bad ones, what about fat counting, separating the different types of fats you can eat, etc. etc. etc, so, as you can see it can be more of a struggle than a smooth transition. A diet that is too complicated is not easy to maintain for long term. It should not feel like you are taking a Math Quiz every time you sit down for a snack!

3. They become a chore. Some diets practically require you to have your own Iron Chef, your own personal trainer, and your own planner on the side. Maybe even someone to take the kids to school while you over exert yourself! Does this make sense? A diet is not a chore. A diet should be a lifestyle and should be a positive experience!

4. Diets cost a fortune. Buying your own heavy duty exercise equipment to lose weight can be costly. Some diet plans charge an initial start up fee and lots of money for every meal you purchase from them. Some charge on-going membership fees just for support. A diet should be affordable and can be done naturally with results.

5. Lack of motivation. Many diets simply instruct you to “take a pill and see what happens”. You then hope this pill is magical and helps in losing weight, unfortunately this is seldom the case and They do not give you the goals and motivation you need to succeed. You do need a written plan of your goals, some goal setting strategies, and know the steps you need to take in order to achieve those goals.

In conclusion, what is a good diet plan? One that is easy to follow and understand, a diet can be integrated into your lifestyle without it feeling like a chore, be inexpensive and affordable to all and one with a strategy, teaching you to set goals and steps to achieve them.
